Under this law, new construction projects that cost at least $5 million and that receive at least $2 million in state funding (as well as certain school renovation projects that cost at least $2 million and receive at least $2 million in state funding) must comply with state high performance building standards.

Following adoption of state legislation directing the state to adopt nationally recognized model green building codes, the state determined that the 2021 International Green Construction Code (IgCC) with amendments would serve as the state's modernized high performance building standards going forward. Until the state adopts the new standards, projects are required to comply with the current standards.
