The Environmental Law Institute, with the co-sponsorship and assistance of the law firm of Farella Braun + Martel LLP and the Trust for Public Land, sponsored a luncheon featuring remarks by California’s new EPA Secretary. Secretary Tamminen, appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger last November, brings to the office a wealth of experience from a widely varied career in business, education, agriculture, the arts and non-profit voluntary organizations. Using his expertise on the marine and coastal environments, Mr. Tamminen founded the Santa Monica Baykeeper organization and continued to create and lead new California organizations devoted to environmental protection during the decade preceding his appointment (See http://www.calepa.ca.gov/About/Bios/Tamminen.htm) for more on Secretary Tamminen’s background).
