After 14 years of highly successful Environmental Boot Camps in Washington, DC, ELI is responding to calls from members to bring this intensive three-day program for new environmental attorneys to our West Coast members. This unique course will provide participants with a thorough examination of environmental law and management, paying particular attention to emerging issues in the Western states.

The ELI Western Boot Camp is a comprehensive training that serves the needs of practitioners who wish an overview of environmental law from experienced practitioners. The program is designed to render a training experience distinct from that offered by the ELI Eastern Boot Camp, which is conducted during the second week of November each year in Washington, D.C. Both training programs are available only to the member firms and organizations of ELI’s Professional, Corporate, and Public Interest Programs and to individual ELI Associates Program members. The courses are designed primarily for attorneys new to environmental law, although experienced practitioners have found the Boot Camp course to provide an efficient update on areas of the law in which they have not been recently active. While the courses have a strong legal focus, they are accessible to professionals other than lawyers, including corporate environmental managers, paralegals, and technical staff who need or would benefit from a more thorough understanding of environmental law.

ELI’s Western Boot Camp courses will be led by carefully selected senior practitioners and environmental managers. Topics planned for the Western 2005 Boot Camp include: the Clean Air Act, Chemical Regulation, Environmental Justice, Natural Resource Damages, Climate Change - Western Initiatives, the Clean Water Act, Environmental Issues in Project Development, Toxic Torts, Tribal Law, CERCLA (including Browfields), Western Water Law, Ethics, and Ocean and Coastal Issues.

Please note: Institutional membership status must be current through the month of the course or enrollment applications will not be processed. We encourage early enrollment as space is limited.
