An ELI Public Webinar

During the UN General Assembly meetings in September, world leaders will convene to discuss progress made on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are central metrics for many governments and companies around the world but remain largely unexplored in the United States.

While the United States has a substantial body of environmental protection and social welfare laws, efforts at environmental, social, and economic progress are often uncoordinated and, at times, conflicting. In Governing for Sustainability, 22 interdisciplinary experts recommended steps the U.S. should take now and achieve by 2030 to advance each SDG.

Join editors and authors of Governing for Sustainability, published by ELI Press, for a cross-cutting discussion on how the U.S. can better adopt and implement these important metrics. The panel will feature leading experts from across the sustainability field—poverty, social policy, peace, environment, and partnerships— and will discuss how these recommendations can help the U.S. accelerate the transition to a sustainable society.

Scott Schang
, Professor of Practice and Director of the Environmental Law and Policy Clinic, Wake Forest University School of Law, Moderator
