An ELI Public Webinar

Methane emissions account for roughly 16% of global greenhouse gas emissions and around 30% of the current rise in global temperature. The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 provides new authorities to reduce methane emissions produced by the oil and gas industry through the creation of the Methane Emissions Reduction Program. Notably, the program establishes a waste emissions charge for methane and provides $1.36 billion in financial and technical assistance supporting a range of activities, including methane monitoring and technology development. This webinar will bring together stakeholders from academia, NGOs, technology developers, and industry to explore the role of third-party monitoring technology in reducing methane emissions in the US.

This webinar is part of the GreenTech Webinar Series. ELI's GreenTech Initiative fosters robust, multi-perspective, practical dialogue around emerging technologies and circular supply chains that can accelerate the transition to a decarbonized and sustainable economy.
