Improving Energy Performance at Industrial Facilities

When
July 22, 2014 12:00 pm — 1:30 pm

An ELI Membership Seminar

In the last decade, the U.S. Department of Energy and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) have raised the bar for energy performance in industrial facilities. To benefit financial and environmental bottom lines, US companies can undertake the challenge to become certified to ISO 50001 in two ways:

  • under the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) accreditation to ISO 50001; and/or
  • under the new ANSI-ANAB accredited Superior Energy Performance program, created by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and US Council for Energy Efficient Manufacturing (USCEEM), the top U.S. certification program for driving continuous improvements in energy efficiency.

With these certifications, which require extensive internal coordination and commitment throughout the facility, companies can lower their energy intensity and eventually become carbon neutral. Our experts provided a lively and encouraging discussion to help participants:

  • gain an understanding of the exciting developments in energy performance accreditation,
  • navigate the complexities and acronyms of these programs supporting energy efficiency, and
  • hear case examples from facilities which have achieved both certifications.
