Human Rights and the Environment

Each summer, ELI convenes a complimentary seminar series that offers an introduction to the legal and policy foundations of environmental protection in the United States. ELI's Summer School is a series of seminars taught by experts in their fields, introducing the audience to important areas of environmental law. Faculty will also incorporate major regulatory and judicial updates to the laws. Join us for a fall semester bonus session!

The UN General Assembly's 2022 recognition of the right to clean, healthy, and sustainable environment helped to elevate the interwoven relationship between human rights and the environment. Over two years after this monumental recognition, how is this right being operationalized? Join the Environmental Law Institute for a special add-on session to our Summer School 2024 series focused on human rights in the environmental context. This session will use an international lens to discuss how human rights intersect with the environment and environmental law across the world.

Panelists:
Marcos Orellana, UN Special Rapporteur on Toxics and Human Rights, United Nations Human Rights Council
Kristine Perry, Staff Attorney, Environmental Law Institute

Materials:
Materials will be posted as they are received.
A recording of this session will be posted to this page, usually within three business days of the live event.
