Agrochemicals, such as pesticides and fertilizers, are widely known to have the potential to cause adverse impacts on non-target species and ecosystem services. Although agrochemicals are intended to mimize crop damages from various pests, studies have shown that other species, such as pollinators, are sensitive to these substances.

The most recognized pollinator, the honeybee, has experienced a population decline in the U.S. and other countries, and agrochemicals are likely to have played a role in this decline. To maintain ecosystem services and avoid pollinator species collapse, many argue that assessing the risks and engaging with  policymakers, corporations, NGOs, and other stakeholders in agrochemical management is essential to mitigating detrimental impacts.

Yet, key questions remain: How can industry, scientists, and government work together to accurately assess and mitigate these risks? What does risk mitigation look like in practice, and what are the leading best practices to promote the health of ecosystems and non-target species? Join the Environmental Law Institute, Cardno ChemRisk, and leading experts for an exploration of how stakeholders are assessing the risks and taking actions to mitigate the impacts of agrochemicals on pollinators.
