Fix the Plumbing Too

The settlement of the Everglades lawsuit may significantly improve the quality of the water flowing into the Everglades, but it does not address the more important issue of water quantity. In the last century, the hydroperiod of the Everglades has been so dramatically altered by human activities that the entire ecosystem is deteriorating. Until the principles underlying our management of this ecosystem are thoroughly revised, the future of the Everglades will remain uncertain at best.
