Summary

In August, the Fish and Wildlife Service released its Wetlands Action Plan, a comprehensive planning document for directing and coordinating FWS conservation activities to achieve President Bush's no net loss of wetlands goal. The action plan has been described by Department of the Interior (DOI) Secretary Manuel Lujan as "a framework within which the Service can work with other federal agencies to seek creative strategies for stopping wetlands loss" and by FWS Director John Turner as the FWS' "marching orders."
