Summary
Since the 1955 passage of the Great Lakes Submerged Lands Act, the State of Michigan has been actively engaged in regulating dredge, fill, and construction activities in its waterways and wetlands. With the passage of the Clean Water Act Amendments of 1977, the state began the process of adopting legislation for state assumption of the dredge and fill permit program under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.
