Monitoring Essential for Measuring Wetland Quality

Wetland protection efforts have been concentrated in two areas: reducing physical loss of wetland acreage and maintaining and restoring wetland quality and function. We have experienced much success in reducing the loss rate of wetlands acreage through federal, state, and local programs that increase awareness of wetland values, reduce unnecessary destruction of wetlands, and provide compensation for wetland losses.
