The Need for Riparian Habitat Protection

The first North American Riparian Conference, held this past April in Tucson, Arizona, attracted over 400 participants. The conference generated information on a variety of topics, ranging from physical characteristics and ecology to legal and institutional needs. However, its lasting significance lies in the fact that it facilitated the formation of communication networks between professional researchers and land managers.
