Response to "An Assessment of the Impact of Federal Programs on Prairie Pothole Drainage"

In the July/August 1987 issue of the National Wetlands Newsletter, Patrick McColloch, Donald Wissman, and James Richardson summarized their research on the impact of federal programs on wetlands in the Prairie Pothole Region (Prairies) and indicated that the research results cast doubt on the potential effectiveness of the Swampbuster provisions of the Food security Act of1985. The author’s summarized the research results admirably, but their conclusion regarding Swampbuster is questionable.
