Wetlands in an Urban Environment

Wetlands can serve several functions in urbanized areas depending on their availability, location, size, characteristics, and publically perceived value. Too often, however, a community fails to adequately consider the ecological and economic values of wetlands and instead believes that wetlands cannot and should not exist in urban areas.
