Why Florida Needs Mitigation Banking

You've probably seen a newspaper article titled "Wetland Mitigation Termed Failure," or the editorials claiming "environmental fraud." Citing various private environmental group and regulatory agency studies, the word is out- wetland mitigation does not work. The implication of these reports is that only God can restore or create wetlands. Nothing could be further from the truth. What is true is that the regulators, the regulated wetlands community, and the mitigation industry need to work together to correct deficiencies in wetland mitigation programs.
