January 2016
We are pleased to announce that John (Jay) Pendergrass has been selected as ELI’s new Vice President for Programs and Publications. In 2015, ELI’s long-time Vice President for Research and Policy, Elissa Parker, transitioned from her post to be a Senior Advisor in Research and Policy, and in December 2015, Executive Vice President, Scott Schang, who had led the Publications and Associates programs for ten years, stepped down to become a Visiting Scholar. In the fall we began the process of redefining the positions and looking for a new Vice President. John has been a Senior Attorney in the Research and Policy Division since 1988 and has served as Acting Vice President for Research and Policy since July, 2015. In his new position as Vice President for Programs and Publications, John will lead the publications and educational programs along with ELI’s research and policy work. In addition to his service to ELI, John is an Adjunct Professor at George Washington University Law School, where he teaches International Environmental Law. Prior to joining ELI, John was an attorney in the Office of the Solicitor of the U.S. Department of the Interior. He also formerly served as an associate with the Madison, Wisconsin firm of DeWitt, Sundby, Huggett, Schumacher & Morgan, and as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law.
