The Environmental Law Institute is pleased to announce the entry of Greg Battista and Loyti Cheng to its Leadership Council.
Greg Battista, who leads Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP’s environmental practice group, has over 25 years of experience handling environmental risk analysis, federal and state compliance, remediation, energy operations, and corporate transactions. Greg has been recognized as a leading environmental lawyer by Chambers USA and the International Who’s Who of Environmental Lawyers. Since 1992, he has served as adjunct professor of Environmental Law and Management at Stevens Institute of Technology, where he teaches courses on regulation under the federal Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Superfund/CERCLA, RCRA, and New Jersey ISRA and Spill Act.
Loyti Cheng is co-head of the Environmental Group in Davis Polk’s Corporate Department. She concentrates on environmental and toxic tort analysis and contractual allocation in the context of transactions, advice on disclosure obligations and climate change legislation, and general advice relating to environmental claims, liabilities, and corporate policies. Ms. Cheng is named as a leading environmental lawyer in numerous legal industry publications and frequently speaks on, and writes about, a variety of environmental law topics.
“ELI is honored to have Loyti and Greg join the ELI Leadership Council,” said ELI Acting President Scott Schang. “As two stars of New York environmental law bar whose practices reach far beyond New York City, they bring a wealth of experience to ELI. I’m sure ELI’s programs will be far richer for their involvement and input.”
The ELI Leadership Council is the Institute’s group for the most prominent environment, energy, and natural resource leaders in the nation. The Council recognizes leaders for their commitment of resources and time to the Institute’s vision of a healthy environment, prosperous economies, and vibrant communities founded on the rule of law. Members participate in events and have a chance to network and engage other leaders in discussions about key environmental law and policy issues.
