Trammell S. Crow is the President of the Crow Family Foundation, which operates and manages The Trammell and Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art, founded in 1994. Mr. Crow began his career as a warehouse leasing agent in Denver and then transferred to Houston to develop residential subdivisions and, subsequently, to lease retail space. Returning to Dallas to join the development team of the Anatole Hotel, he then worked at the Dallas Market Center when it expanded by over 2 million square feet. By 1985, he had developed the Dallas Communications Complex, the Studios at Las Colinas, INFOMART and the Dallas/Fort Worth Teleport. From 1986 to 1993, Mr. Crow was the Chief Executive Officer of Trammell Crow International, overseeing the Brussels International Trade Mart (largest in Europe) and developing additional trade marts in Asia.
Mr. Crow is the founder of Earth Day Texas, Inc. and sits on a number of boards, including the Trust for Public Land North Texas and the Environmental Defense Fund Texas. He is a long-term supporter of the Texas Conservation Alliance, the Nature Conservancy of Texas, Texans for Lawsuit Reform, Log Cabin Republicans, and the League of Conservation Voters. He supports various non-profit organizations that are active in family planning, education, the environment, community initiatives and political causes. Trammell’s hobbies include collecting rocks, a love of music and art, and reading. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics (Yale University, 1974) and an Honorary Degree, Doctor of Humane Letters (Paul Quinn College, 2011).
Laurence S. Kirsch is a partner in and chair of Goodwin Procter’s Energy & Environmental Practice, where his combined background in science and the law have made him a leading attorney in matters involving air, surface water, groundwater, hazardous waste, sediments, toxic substances regulation and indoor air quality, among other issues. He has performed numerous environmental reviews of individual plants and entire companies in approximately 30 states throughout the country and in Canada. He has worked with clients in developing responses to EPA requests for information under the different environmental statutes. Mr. Kirsch also advises businesses including major financial institutions on the environmental implications of real estate and corporate organizations and transactions, including securitizations.
Mr. Kirsch lectures widely at seminars and conferences on several environmental law subjects and taught a law school course on Law, Science and Technology. He has appeared as an expert in environmental law on CBS News, the MacNeil-Lehrer Report, and numerous radio shows, and has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, The Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, National Law Journal and The American Lawyer. Laurence was a partner at Shea & Gardner prior to its combination with Goodwin Procter in 2004. He has been selected for inclusion in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and Best Lawyers. While attending law school, he served as Managing Editor of the Harvard Environmental Law Review.
The ELI Leadership Council is the Institute’s group for the most prominent environment, energy, and natural resource leaders in the nation. The Council recognizes leaders for their commitment of resources and time to the Institute’s vision of a healthy environment, prosperous economies, and vibrant communities founded on the rule of law. Members participate in a series of events and have a chance to network and engage other leaders in discussions about key environmental law and policy issues.
