The Environmental Law Institute is delighted to announce two new members to its Leadership Council: Lisa M. Bromberg and Michael Traynor. “ELI is so pleased to have these outstanding attorneys join the ranks of our Leadership Council,” said ELI Leadership Council President Kathy Robb. “Lisa and Michael represent leading thought-leaders in the environmental field. As the Institute continues to grow, these important voices from across the country will help strengthen our vision of a healthy environment, prosperous economies, and vibrant communities founded on the rule of law. We are lucky to add such esteemed new members to our Leadership Council and look forward to the guidance and expertise they are sure to bring to our organization.” Lisa Bromberg is a principal of Porzio, Bromberg and Newman and is a member of the firm’s Real Estate & Environmental Practice Group P.C. Her practice encompasses matters of environmental compliance, permitting, property and Brownfields development, property transfer litigation, OSHA issues, auditing, and the public relations aspects of environmental law. Lisa has developed an expertise in renewable energy issues including the negotiation of power purchase agreements, the maximization of financial and tax incentives, and the management of the issues related to the installation of renewable energy systems. She has served on the Board of Directors of the New York State Bar Association Environmental Law Section, New Jersey State Bar Association Environmental Law Section, and Gilda’s Club of Northern New Jersey. She is also a Fellow with the American Bar Foundation, and is an active member of several other professional groups. She is presently a member of the Board of Trustees of Caldwell University, her alma mater. Michael Traynor is Senior Counsel for Cobalt Law, LLP. His areas of expertise include appellate litigation, the First Amendment, restitution and remedies, and the conflict of laws. He is President Emeritus of the American Law Institute (ALI) and an adviser to Restatement Fourth of the Foreign Relations Law of the United States and Restatement Third of Conflict of Laws. He is the recipient of ALI’s Distinguished Service Award and the Ninth Circuit’s John P. Frank Outstanding Lawyer Award and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Michael is a member of the Earthjustice Council and also served on ELI’s board from 1991-1997 and again from 1999-2005, participated in ELI’s recent workshops on communicating scientific uncertainty, and has contributed to The Environmental Forum and The Environmental Law Reporter as well as other professional publications. The ELI Leadership Council is the Institute’s group for the most prominent environment, energy, and natural resource leaders in the nation. The Council recognizes leaders for their commitment of resources and time to the Institute’s vision of a healthy environment, prosperous economies, and vibrant communities founded on the rule of law. Members participate in events and have a chance to network and engage other leaders in discussions about key environmental law and policy issues.
