ELI – A core partner of the Women in Water Diplomacy Network
Since 2017, the Environmental Law Institute has provided collaborative support to the Stockholm International Water Institute's Shared Waters Partnership Program towards the development and implementation of the Women in Water Diplomacy Network with focus on capacity development and research cooperation. ELI has supported the design and implementation of Network events and contributed to further research around key themes of relevance to the Women in Water Diplomacy Network including publications and milestone events such as:

ELI is specifically playing a leading role in supporting the inception and development of the North American Women in Water Diplomacy Network and the South Caucasus as well as driving Global engagements and hosting exploratory dialogues in other regions/ basins.

The Women in Water Diplomacy Network in the South Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia) was launched in 2024 with support from USAID to ELI. Information on the new Network branch's development process can be found here:

Youth Engagement + Youth Empowerment:
The Women in Water Diplomacy Network puts strong emphasis on engaging young people alongside senior water diplomats. Check out this video of students from Ledumang Senior Secondary School for a great example of how our partners at the Orange-Senqu River Basin Commission (ORASECOM) have engaged young people in the development of the Network.
