Encouraging a Watershed-Based Approach to Mitigation Planning in the Etowah River Watershed

The Etowah River watershed approach pilot project addresses the challenge of intensive land use and rapid development from the Atlanta metropolitan area from a planning perspective. The authors discuss the process of engaging stakeholders, identifying watershed needs, and incorporating land use priorities and available data to ensure that aquatic resource impacts are adequately offset in one of the world’s most biologically rich temperate river systems.
